well im a big fan of turbos, but on a domestic, i think a supercharger is better. dw ive got reasons . . . the v8 engine has enough power to begin with to make up for the "power loss" caused by the parasitic supercharger. immediate boost is also a nice thing to have. on a v-type engine, the supercharger can sit in the middle and take the place of the IM (it does this on I4's as well but thats just not the same) and it rests very nicely with respect to all the pullys, the belts are nicer to deal with (belt actually). also, you dont need to find a turbo mani that will suit you, because you can just use conventional headers, that will most likely be far superior to any turbo mani you could find.

Modern turbos are so efficent (sp?) there's no reason to pick anything else.
NAAAAAAWS sucks because: Its temporary and has been forever ruined by the slow and the gay. The only legitamate uses are for poor people and drag racing.
Roots/Eaton/Screw (i.e. positive displacement) blowers suck because: They're very inefficent (comparatively). The parasitic loss is huge. They lack any and all top end (read: boost is fixed). Only legitamate uses are top fuel dragsters, trucks, and OEM kits because OEMs are balless and afraid of turobs. Hard to intercool, especially if its not factory.
Centrifigal blowers suck because: Its nothing more than a low output, horribly inefficent belt driven turbo. Again, parasitic loss. Totally defeats the purpose of a belt driven blower because it has no low end. The only remotely legitamate use for these would be if you MUST have F/I but an Eaton won't fit, nothing else is available and its impossible (or you're too lazy) to make you're own turbo kit.
For "Inefficent" read: heats the air more and also makes less power at given PSI.
Modern turbos (of correct size) can make boost lower than a centrifigal blower, have FAR better top end than a positive displacement blower, have FAR better compressor efficency (i.e. heats the air less), and do it all with near zero parastic loss. When not in boost turbos are only an exhaust restriction (which in most cases isn't worse than a modern pre-cat). When blowers are not in boost they're STILL drawing power from the engine (unless equiped with a clutch) and (if its positive displacement) drastically heating the intake air even at idle (say it with me, 'detonation'). Blowers are harder to intercooler, especially positive displacement blowers. Need to make more boost? That smaller pully only gets you a couple PSI. What you need is a bigger blower. Guess what? That takes more power away from you. A huge positive displacement blower won't fit, looks you need more modifications $$$$. A big centrifugal blower will be so hard for the engine to spin up from off boost it will have the equivalant of HORRIBLE turbo lag and will destroy off boost power. The ONLY reasons superchargers should be used in a CAR is for very low boost (<6psi), personal preferance, and emissions.
Was that enough to make my case?

it was enough yes, i still like superchargers on domestics and turbos on "sport compacts" tho

Superchargers have their place, I like them and they make good power. Turbos are more efficient and make more power though. Although you can debate till the end of time which is better, each has its own downfalls and positives. Mark, check out www.hpcrazed.com/images/Turbotime(lg).wmv, it may change your mind about not turboing v8's.

I think super chargers are best route for a big v8. For smaller motors I like turbos. Thats my opinion anyways.
